Anyone who has had the privilege of growing up in Omaha, Nebraska, knows that it comes with many perks. From the beginning, I remember looking forward to visiting Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo, which is the top rated zoo in the world, for school field trips every year. If getting to visit the best zoo in the world wasn't enough for an elementary school kid, we also got to attend a game at Rosenblatt Stadium every year in elementary school, which was the largest minor league baseball stadium in the United States.
When living in Omaha, you never have to crave a restaurant or wait until you visit a city that has what you're looking for, because every food chain or restaurant you could hope for is probably within a ten mile radius from your home. If I want to head to a IHOP in my pajamas at two in the morning, I am free to do so, or if I want to wear my fanciest dress, drive downtown with my lady friends, and pay twenty dollars for a chicken salad, I can certainly do that too.
One of the most unique experiences that I get to enjoy every year just because of the fact I live in Omaha, is attending a game at the College World Series, in TD Ameritrade Stadium. My favorite part is sitting in the stands and soaking every bit of my surroundings in. I get to see the fans painted faces of the team colors they are supporting, and smell the hot dogs and nachos being sold in concession stands, or the sunscreen being sweat off in the Nebraska heat.
I will always cherish the memories of growing up in Omaha, Nebraska because living in this city is unlike any other. I know no matter how old i become I will always look forward to feeling at home when I'm in Omaha, and enjoying the all the perks this city comes with.
