Growing up is hard.
Why is it whenever you go through hard times and you tell someone about it they just look at you with this smirk and tilt your head and say “aww you are growing up,” or “it’s is a part of growing up.”
Well why is growing up so hard? Why does growing up mean you go from constantly texting and talking to someone to them moving away leaving you looking at your phone like you have someone else that would want to talk to you? Why does growing up mean you have less and less time? Why does growing up mean more and more people start to hate you? Growing up just means you are exhausted all the time and you just google how to do everything. Growing up just brings more pain and heartache.
No one ever told me when I was little that growing up was so hard! Growing up just makes me want to crawl in a hole and stay there. Working, paying off bills, running errands, being responsible --- what happened to playing outside, coloring and chasing the ice cream truck? What happened to running from friends house to friends house all day?
Yes growing up can be fun, but most of the time I just find myself sad as I move from one phase of life to the next and watch my friends grow up and move on themselves. As happy and proud I am of my friends, it is hard to watch them move on.
Sometimes you just have to take a moment to yourself. Eat that ice cream, watch a movie and take a bath. You deserve to have some time to be you and maybe cry a little. It is okay to be sad and it is okay to feel. It is a part of life. You don’t have to always be okay. Growing up is hard and can leave you wondering what to do. Sometimes you just have to rely on Jesus because that’s really all you have left to do.
Life can be hard. It brings heartbreak and heartache, sometimes it leaves you alone not knowing what to do. But it is in those moments that you have to decide what you are going to do. Growing up is hard but somehow we do it.
It is okay to feel like life is getting you down sometimes. You don't have to fake being positive about everything like sometimes life is hard and that is okay. It is better to accept that you are not okay and then pick yourself up and move on to fake that nothing is wrong and have it blow up later.
Life is full of wonderful things, memories and different phases. Appreciate each moment as it comes love the good times while you have them and let the bad times make you appreciate the good times even more.
When you miss your days of footie pajamas and crayons just remember that everyone makes it through and this will pass.
