7 Reasons Grandmas Are The Best Thing To Ever Happen to Anybody
Kayla Lindberg

This one is for you, Grandma.

They are the cutest person in your family.

You are LYING to yourself if you say that your grandma is not cute, like literally lying. They always have the greatest taste in clothes and shoes and purses and jewelry. Nothing ever looks bad on them. Even when they are just talking you want to hug them because they are so damn cute.

They give the best hugs.

If you are ever in the worst mood possible, give your grandma a hug. If you don't have a grandma, come give my grandma a hug. I swear she has hugs that could make even the meanest person melt to the floor.

They always know what to say.

I have NEVER gotten bad advice from my grandma. From what shoes to buy, who to talk to and what to do with my life, she is the person I go to the most. Even if I don't want to hear it, she says it. They see things we don't see and they always have our best interests at heart.

They are always willing to take you shopping.

Grandmas LOVE spending time with their grandkids, but you know what they love to do more? Spend money on them! She also needs your help picking out what is cute because sometimes, she comes home with things you don't love, so she doesn't want to make that mistake again. It will never make sense to me why my grandma spends so much money on all of us but I know she does it out of the kindness of our heart. (She doesn't have to buy our love, she already has it all.)

They would do anything for you. I mean ANYTHING.

My grandma is the most selfless person I know. She has the biggest heart and I know that is because she loves everyone no matter what, family or not. My grandma has let me live with her for the longest time, she has provided for me and most of all, she has done more for me than anyone could imagine. Grandmas truly love their grandkids more than anything.

They never ask for anything in return. Ever.

You can plan to buy them the best Christmas present ever but I promise they don't want it. They just want to spend time with you, even if it is only 20 minutes out of your day. They will never ask you to pay for food, or to help them do anything but you just kind of do it. You know she would do anything for you and you feel the same way about her.

Lastly, they can be whatever you need them to be.

Whether it's your best friend or your mom or your teacher or your preacher or the saleswoman at the store convincing you to buy something, grandmas can be that. Mine has taken so many important roles in my life and I know she has done the same for so many other people. Grandmas will treat you as their own child if they think it is what you need.

Grandmas are unmistakably God's gift to Earth. I would be nothing if it wasn't for my grandma.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
