Whether the moment is everything you have ever imagined or totally surreal, the time of your college graduation is one you will never forget. You have wrapped up the very last of your final exams, your cap has been decorated for weeks now in honor to commemorate this very day and it is the morning of... You wake up feeling eager and anxious. You dress to the nines, slapping on a glamorous dress and heels or a fancy suit, you fix your hair and soon enough, you are out the door to get a jump start on closing one door and getting ready to open another. You find your friends, take your seat and all of your memories come flooding back.
To Freshman year when you first arrived and your level of innocence was almost off the charts...
The bitter sweet moment of finding out, who were your true friends were and still are...
To Sophomore year, and learning to take a leap of faith and trust your own instincts...
Meeting people and making connections that have taken you to new heights...
Falling in love and meeting your other half...
To Junior year, when you realize how important your family is, especially your mother...
To realizing that you need to forget about what other people do and just love yourself...
Becoming a one person carnival act, juggling a job, getting a position on your chapter, but also making time for your friends and your studies...
And then, this year, your last and final year of college, where all of your loose ends get tied together because time is truly your best friend. With time, senior year has allowed you to watch karma finally catch to that one person who deserves it the most...
Or times like today, where it hit you that you were finally able to chase the dreams you wanted for you, because they simply made you happy...
Regardless of the memories that fill your head as you walk during your graduation ceremony, today is only the beginning, for the countless doors that may open for you after this point. While I'm sure not all of it was complete fun and games, the struggles you encountered along the way, made you the person you are today...a college graduate!
Maybe you are the first in your family, or perhaps the last, a congratulations is always in order. As your journey continues, remember to keep your head up high and to always take the good with the bad.
