Graduation Bucket List

17

For most of you seniors, graduation is rapidly approaching. You may be thinking to yourself: What about all of the things that I haven’t done yet?  Many of you have pledged to do a few stupid things over the years like get an alcohol violation or run through the library on your way home from Aardvark. But seniors, these adventures are far from what I would call daring or original for someone of your caliber. You have spent the last four years pulling weak pranks and partaking in juvenile shenanigans -- so now, in your last month here on campus as a student, it’s time to step up your game.  In order to get the most out of your last month, I recommend that you and your friends devise a bucket list. Don't hold back to put the most outlandish things you can think of on this list, because even if you don't do it, at least you thought about it—right? You should make this list on a giant piece of paper and definitely hang it somewhere public. Place it on your fridge, on the wall, or hell, put it on your front door so your neighbors think you're way cooler than you really are. Wherever you decide to put it, if it's in a common place, then it becomes a group activity, and you guys are more likely to complete these tasks because you will hold each other accountable for doing all this stupid shit.
So, if you’re graduating in May, take on this bucket list challenge. Below I list 10 suggestions to inspire your inner hooligan. Mix, match, or even merge them for your personal list. For the rest of you that are taking your sweet, sweet time to get out of here…try this in a year (or in six) -- however many more years you have until you finally get that diploma.
1. Shack in a freshman dorm. Make a point to spend one night on a couch, in a bed, or even in the lobby of Sherley, Colby, Clark, but probably not Foster.
 2. Dress up the statues of our founders. Deck them out in whatever you see fit. Whether it’s your underwear, a swimsuit and some goggles, or a t-shirt of your favorite—or least favorite fraternity or sorority.
3. Pick one week, and go out every single night. And I mean every single night. Take Sunday off if you need to, but I’m talking syllabus week style Monday-Saturday.
4. Go skinny-dipping in frog fountain. No explanation necessary.
5. Go to KinderFrogs. This is the only sappy item on my list, but I felt like it should be included. We have such a unique opportunity to volunteer at KinderFrogs, and you should definitely take advantage of it one last time before saying goodbye.
6. Sneak into Market Square. You don't even have to eat. In fact, I’d recommend that you don't. Just do it for the thrill.
7. Do a frat crawl. Or a Srat crawl. Just hit up all the Greek houses in one night, gathering photo evidence, kisses, and shots of cheap liquor.
8. Be a swinger. Stop off for a swing in the front yard of campus (outside of Jarvis) on your way home from the bars.
9. Go to class in costume. Whether you decide to sleep in your outfit from Owlaween and wear it to class the next morning, or you want to get a little more creative than that this challenge is not for the faint of heart.
10. Make out in the stacks. I recently read online that the library is one of the most popular places on campus to “hook up,” and this was big news to me. Although I cannot confirm nor deny this rumor, there’s no hurt in jumping on the bandwagon even if it is imaginary, right? So try to suck face with that special (or not-so-special) person in the stacks of the library—if you can navigate through the construction site.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
