There are a lot of activities people are involved in during the summer: everything from being in a camp to going on vacation with the family. The excitement of being able to relax for a couple months leads to late nights and midnight fast food runs. Although the inside of the place may be closed there are employees prepared to take your order as you go through the drive-thru. There are expectations for these places (such as McDonald's, Wendy's, Taco Bell and more) that their manager has for them and also each individual customer.
How you ever considered the process it takes to have a fast food place be successful?
First of all, it starts with the hungry people that want the food. The pull up to the menu and began to scrabble off their order. Some people do it very slowly and others very fast, while the cashier is on headset punching in the desires of the customers. If the customer doesn’t want pickles, the place will make sure it doesn’t have pickles! As the order is coming to the end, the customer receives the total cost and the process of making the food is taking place. In a matter of seconds the payment is received and the car proceeds to the next window where their food is ready. When they receive it, the customer is satisfied and so is the company. However, there are many times when there are errors and the customer is not satisfied. Mistakes do happen through the order process yet the company is willing to fix the mistake on their behalf.
As a customer there are three specific ways you can help---
- Ask to talk to the manager. The manager has been equipped to solve the problem. The employees only follow the directions they have been given when they were trained. The problem will not be solved by voices being raised at others.
- Double check your screen or receipt as the order is being taken (your request should be presented on the screen). If something is incorrect politely state what is wrong and restate your request. This will help the employees to correct the mistake as it is completed and placed at the window for you to receive.
- Give time for big and complex orders. Just like in the kitchen at home, it takes time to make a meal, and it’s the same in a fast food restaurant. In order to make the order to the satisfaction of the customer it takes time.
It is the job and desire of the company to have their customers leave with a smile on their faces. It is the requests of the customers that keep their business growing.
