The season finale of Game of Thrones has caused many former fans to declare that they are done with the show. The finale was actually sheer madness, and, like all season finales, leaves all the plot points at a cliffhanger.
First of all, I think "Stannis-not-the-mannis" got some of what he deserved. It was idiotic to go into battle with his meagre army — of course people were going to desert after what he did to Shireen (never over that heartbreaking moment). The aerial shot of the Bolton army going against his is laughable. Of course, he somehow survived the battle only to have Brienne discover him (she finally does something) and presumably kills him. However, of course it switches right after that scene to another, so who knows.
Reek/Theon finally came into his own: I knew he had it in him. He kills Roose's creepy girl and jumps with Sansa off the edge of the castle. All I can say about that is hopefully the snow is "hella" or really deep.
Myrcella surprisingly is like, "yeah Jamie I know you're my dad," and when they hug, all of a sudden blood comes pouring out of her nose: this explains the creepy kiss Ellaria gave her. The scene changes after that, though, so we aren't sure if she is dead or not either.
Cersei finally gets a taste of karma with a walk of shame in the realest possible sense. Her hair is cut and she is forced to walk naked through the city with a nun following her saying "shame" over and over. She is super bloody and humiliated by the end. Let's hope that finally taught her a lesson. It was pretty brutal, but she is taken back into the castle.
Arya uses a face in order to kill Meryn, one of the names she said every night. It is unclear what happens to her at the end, however, as she collapses and states she cannot see.
Daenarys is with Drogon God-knows-where. Tyrion and Ser Jorah somehow escaped the fighting pit, and my boy Tyrion, when asked if all he ever does is talk, says yes. And drink. Thank God for a little comic relief in this insane episode. Daario and Jorah ride off in hopes of finding Daenarys, while in the distance behind her, people on horseback approach.
The cruelest moment of all occurs at the very end. Jon is informed that his uncle has returned (what actually happened to him, anyway?) only to be pronounced a traitor and stabbed. The show ends with him lying on the ground while a puddle of blood forms beneath him. Why? Is Melisandre coming to bring him back to life, is he inhabiting Ghost, or is he just dead? Unfortunately, we have a bit of a wait ahead of us.
I read the books, and I implore George R.R. Martin to please get the next one out before the show returns. If you haven't read the books, it might give you some solace as we wait for the return.
