Moms: most often confused with Superwoman herself. Just like in childhood cartoons, moms have the ability to cook, clean, do laundry and drive kids to practice and friends' houses and the mall at the same time.
How is this possible? They’re just that good. Though this is all true, there is much more (besides housework) that moms deserve credit for. And let’s be honest, with the craziness of life, it’s hard to remember to thank your mom for all the little things she’s done for you over the years.
So Mom, thank you…
For reading me bedtime stories every night growing up.
For throwing me the birthday parties of a lifetime you knew I would soon forget.
For letting me braid your hair, even though it probably hurt like crazy.
For making Dad get me a pet.
For forcing me to sign up for sports and activities so I would be involved.
For driving me to the aforementioned sports and activities.
For letting me jump in bed with you when I had nightmares as a kid.
For all the times you drove me to my friend’s house when it was a big inconvenience for you.
For not getting mad when I woke up late for school and using it as an excuse to get breakfast together.
For letting me skip school when I didn’t finish a project in time.
For cooking, especially on the days when I was too sick to move from the couch.
For handling me and my many temper tantrums.
For not letting me watch television, causing me to actually spend time with my siblings.
For setting rules, even if I didn’t always follow them.
For making me learn from my mistakes.
For making me bring a gift every time I stayed with a friend for a while.
For knowing when I need a stern talking to or a shoulder to cry on.
For taking time out of your day to teach me how to drive when I was old enough to get a license.
For not telling Dad when I busted the car.
For not telling Dad when I busted the car…again.
For telling me heartache is temporary and that boy didn’t deserve me anyways.
For keeping your mouth shut when you knew some of my friends wouldn’t last forever.
For all the times you didn’t keep your mouth shut.
For teaching me how to find the ones worth sacrificing for.
For being a mom when I needed it, and a friend when I didn’t.
For trusting me when it felt like no one else would.
For making me choose a college in a state different than where I grew up.
For teaching me that just throwing all your clothes in the washer and hoping for the best is definitely not the right way to do your laundry.
For making me choose a major, even if it wasn’t the right one.
For teaching me that I'm more than my GPA.
For cleaning my room when I was coming home for Christmas break.
For listening to my rants about schoolwork and friends.
For helping me call out of work in a professional way.
For paying for what I want the most when my minimum wage job didn’t cut it.
For reminding me that money isn't everything.
For being just as mad as I am at a friend.
For always telling me when I’m wrong, even if I didn’t want to hear it.
For taking endless pictures of me and my siblings doing random things at holidays.
For watching after my nieces and nephews, because I know you’ll do the same for me.
For showing me how to be the mother I hope I can be one day.
Most importantly, thank you for being my mom.
