What makes you think that you, along with all your friends (texting, web browsing, and social medias) can control society? You've given us a whole other (virtual) reality to live in. And why is everyone always so quick to tell you their secrets? They just see the keyboard and it's off to the the races. I can't really figure out if I'm luckier than my parents, or more doomed. What is it about this dumb glowing screen that makes it able to affect my moods, thoughts, actions, and beliefs? Well without a doubt you've kept me connected to the world around me. Whether that be a good or bad thing I've yet to construe. Have relationships been taken to a whole different level with the opportunity of constant communication? What is it like to leave something at your friend's and not be able to text him and say, "you home dude? Gotta come through." All of these questions will always go unasked because unfortunately, I haven't gotten to live long enough to see the evolution. But it is indeed something I think about often. I think the number one reason for our generation being the "most accepting" to things like race and sexuality, is because of all the connections we have to each other on media and through our phones. We're always seeing the good and bad in people, and it's become easier to decipher between the two.
We learn something about different people everyday. This being because at all moments of the day we can log on and see the opinions of anyone we want too, and we've come to the point in time where most of us can all agree. Racism, homophobia, and discrimination of any sort, are disgusting things that are presented everyday in society. But I have hope in this generation that we can make this world an actual better living environment. So I don't know, I wanna say thank you phone. I love you, I hate you, but I think I love you more. I, along with the rest of the world, may spend to much time on you. We may miss out on what's going on around us because of the distractions of this altered world. But I have to give it to you, I put into account that I am how I am today because of everything that's influenced me. And as pleased as I am with the way I turned out, I want to say having you along had something to do with it. So thanks phone, I hate you.
