This week the wizarding world was hit with a terrible loss. The amazing Alan Rickman (who played Severus Snape in all eight Harry Potter movies) passed away January 14 at the age of 69 after a short battle with cancer. Alan Rickman was a talent and an inspiration, and the following are some reasons why every Harry Potter fan cannot help but have loved Snape.

  1. The fact that he was constantly whacking Harry and Ron’s heads
  2. His undying love for Lily
  3. The fact that he was constantly helping to save Harry, Ron and Hermione
  4. Him wearing Neville’s grandmother's clothes
  5. Him putting aside his dislike for Lupin and continually makes him his potion

  7. When he threatens Quirrell
  8. His response to Dolores’ questioning
  9. When he helps Harry
  10. And when he helps him again
  11. And when he helps him survive potions
  12. And when he refuses to hurt him
  13. When he puts his own life at risk to protect Draco
  14. When he shows Harry the truth
  15. The fact that he was Dumbledore’s man through it all
