A Break-Up Letter To My Summer Job

Dear Summer Job,

It isn’t you, it's me. It has been one hell of a summer, you crazy fool of a job you. We’ve been through a lot in these few short months, and let me tell you, it has been a ride. I wouldn’t change it for anything. You’ve given me some of the best memories and some of the most important people in my life. I hate to say it, but it is time for us to part ways. At least for a little while, anyway.

You see, before I met you, there was something else in my life that had kept me happy for a very long time. I have to go back to him for a little while. I owe it to myself. Maybe I can see you when I come home for Christmas, or even a weekend here or there, but we have to take a break from each other and I hope you know this is for the best.

Demanding to see me five to six days a week? Sometimes 13 hours at a time! It was all too much. You took time away from my friends, my family, and most importantly, my pets.

Don’t forget about me, because I will come back for you. How could I leave you forever after you showed me so much love? You spoiled me with those paychecks and fed me lunch every day; sometimes you even fed me dinner if I stayed with you late. You introduced me to your friends, who became my family, and you showed me a new side of myself.

You taught me responsibility, accountability, and taught me the ethics of your environment. I laughed with you, cried with you, and even bled a couple of times. I had the time of my life with you this summer, though. I am sorry to say, I must be on my way now.

I have to leave you to better myself, but please, I am asking you to wait for me. You will always be my summer love, but my main man, College, is calling and I promised to spend football season with him. Thanks for the memories, though.

With love,

Your favorite employee

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
