It's hard to see this year come to an end, you're halfway through college and two years away from graduation. Yikes. Many people say that freshman year is the best year of your life, I'm here to tell you that's wrong. Sophomore year is the best year of college and watching it end is not only sad but stressful. Because now school gets real, getting a job is commonly talked about and all of your friends are moving on to bigger and better things and it always seems to feel like your life is still in shambles.
But this year gave you time to focus on yourself, in a more comfortable environment than freshman year. Sophomore year you're settled, you have a great loyal group of friends and you've finally started to focus on your major. You've learned from the mistakes you made last year and are at least a little bit wiser.
And if you were lucky enough to get a little this year, you know there's nothing more fun than passing on all of your knowledge and lessons from past mistakes on to your little. It's been fun being a mentor this year, and having the chance to help another person through the strains and stress of college. The thought of becoming a grand big next year though is terrifying.
Going into my junior year I feel much more secure in my friend group and know the people I have in my life are here for the long haul. They've seen me crash and burn and they've seen me grow through all of the mistakes, and they've stuck around. This is something I wasn't able to say with confidence freshman year, but now I know for sure that I can count on the friends in my life and they know they can count on me.
Sophomore year has given me this security and feeling of reassurance, that not only the people in my life are here to stay, but that I've chosen the right major for me. Granted, not everyone feels this way, many of my friends have changed their majors multiple times this year. But, after all of the classes I took this year, I was lucky enough to be reassured that I'm in the right major.
This year was nothing short of a great one, I'm sad to see if come to an end, but knowing in three months I get to come back to this amazing school. And how lucky am I to have something so great to miss.
Thank you sophomore year for being the best year of my life so far. And here's hope that junior year is even better.
