Owners and couple Nova and Mike Nelson began opening booming businesses back in 1998, starting with Angelica’s, an herb and juice store. Steadily adding menu items while gaining popularity, the Nelsons began their search for more space. Three restaurants later, Hob Nob Farm Café has become a household name in Boone with its eccentric menu featuring almost any type of cuisine possible, cooked and seasoned to perfection.
Starting Wednesday, August 15th, Wild Craft Eatery will make its debut. Don’t worry, house favorites like the Garam Masala Yellow Curry and the local burgers will remain on the menu. The dynamic duo will still head the restaurant. The new name is meant to reflect new goals for the restaurant’s flavors. At the couple’s family home and farm, a bounty of local fruits, vegetables, and herbs grow freely on the property, waiting to be foraged for season specials on the menu. For this reason, the restaurant will make a large—but not whole—change to the extensive menu that allows more timely food preparation and more opportunity for creative, delicious specials.
“It became clear to us that we were not doing what was in our name, and we thought, that’s lame! So we decided to change our name to reflect our current vision and since we are Wild and Crafty, we did. Please forgive us any inconvenience this may cause you and come see what we have created, just for you!”
--Nova's name change philosophy
These two are no strangers to the service industry. They met each other years ago working in the same restaurant, where everything that exists today, began. The dedication to their business is commendable. It is no surprise to see Nova out on the floor, hosting or waiting tables—helping her staff wherever she is needed. Mike is the back-of-house specialist. He will be seen helping to prep and cook food and is often the creativity behind the daily specials that are so revered.
Not only are the Nelsons busy at work, they also find time to raise their two kids. Referring to their second “home” above the restaurant, Nova says that you know your restaurant is taking over your life when you decide to just live above it. Local restaurants like Hob Nob/Wild Craft succeed because of this exact dedication.
Wild Craft Eatery will continue to serve the fresh, organic quality food with dishes for meat lovers and vegans alike to enjoy.
The new website will be up and running upon the official arrival of the new “do.” Visit wildcrafteatery.com.
Come on by and give the new “do” a try. Your taste buds will thank you.
“Serving food to you is both an honor and a privilege to us. Food alone has the ability to change your health, the prosperity of our community, the future of the earth, and, perhaps best of all, your mood. So thank you for being here, and allowing us to do what we love, for you (and the earth too).”
