So it's that time of the year for college students. You are most likely wrapping up your final exams and it's time to say goodbye to your school year. For some of us, we are saying goodbye to our first year of college and with that bring upon another sad chapter in our lives. We are saying farewell to our first homes away from home. It is pretty surreal that time went by so fast. Some of the most memorable things that have happened through out the school year occurred in our dorms.
So maybe your dorms weren't the most spectacular ones. I spent weeks in a sweltering sauna, we had communal bathrooms, no elevators, and I lived on the third floor. When I was introduced to the idea of living in a building that had all of these wonderful features, I was so taken aback. There are only a handful of dorms without air conditioning and I was lucky enough to be placed in one of them. Little did I know, I was going to a home I would treasure forever.
Our lovely dorm was home to where we've spent countless hours hanging out, staying up unreasonable hours studying, watching movies, playing video games, and overall just bonding. It became a community between floor mates, and friends we've created on other floors.
Our dorms were home to some of the best memories we've created. It may not have been the most comfortable place to sleep in but I would not trade any of it for the world. As we pack and say goodbye to our first home, the memories are something we'll keep with us forever.
