The best piece of advice I have ever received was from my grandmother when I was relatively young. Although this advice has become a part of my values, I didn’t see it that way when I was first told it. I was required to interview my grandma for a project in middle school. We had to ask them a variety of questions about their lives and the final one was to give us the best advice that they could think of. And although I doubt she remembers this at all, my grandma told me that she thought one of the most important things in life was to find your talents in life and use those things to help yourself and others. At the time I never expected for it to mean much, or anything at all to me. For some reason or another, this has stuck with me throughout the years and gives me guidance every once in a while.

This quote has stayed with me throughout the years because it reminds me that you should want to go out of your way to help other people by using your talents and skills in any way that you can and in every day of your life. There is no point of having anything in life if you don’t use things in a beneficial way, especially to other people.

One small act can have a significant impact on another person. Something as simple as complimenting someone, helping them out with something their struggling with, the list is endless depending on what you’re good at or capable of. Everyone enjoys being helped out. If you are good at making people feel better about themselves and supporting people, then you should strive to do that for others each and every day because it can be very beneficial and helpful to them and can also make you feel better about yourself. Everyone likes being helped out. It makes many things easier, and can make people feel appreciated. Doing all these things can easily put someone in a better mood, add value to their life, and even change their life.

A goal in everyone's life should be to help others and make life worth living, for yourself and for other people. There is no use of having talents and skills in your life if you’re not trying to use them to help and better others as well as yourself. At the end of my life, I want to be able to say “ I used everything I ever had” and I definitely do not want to feel as if I wasted anything in my life. You owe it to yourself and to others to use your talents. Such a simple little thing can be so important.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
