A Good Concert Keeps Me Coming Back

You look up, finally taking in that the day is finally here. You have waited months or maybe even a year for this moment. With a ticket in hand, you move with the crowd and find yourself in awe. Everyone here has at least one thing in common with you. Thousands of people and they’re here for the same reason you are. It gives you a slight feeling of comfort in your stomach. Your friend is commenting on what they think will be on the set list and you strike up a conversation with the person in front of you in line. You keep moving forward, the venue creeps closer and closer.

People are all around you. There are many types, the veteran concert goers, the newbies, the nonchalant ones, and the fanatics. They all give off a vibe; their motives for being in this exact location. You walk along the way, and you find your place. You double check that this is where you want to be. Of course, this is exactly where you want to be. It takes you a few minutes to adjust to your surroundings. Your friend arrives with the refreshments and it starts to sink in more.

The crowds find their place and you are taking in the sounds of muffled conversations. Repeatedly, you keep thinking about the exact moment that you bought your tickets. That’s when something truly amazing happens, the lights go down, and you get that feeling in your stomach dropping. The moment you’ve truly waited ages for is finally here.

The stage lights up and the artist that you’ve been waiting to see is in the same space as you. The realization that they are in fact a living, breathing human being comes over you. How could someone so talented be here in the same place as you? They introduce themselves and begin their first song. Your stomach is doing flips in excitement over the songs you hear on the radio, but now they have more passion in them since the person on the radio is now in front of you. As you take it all in, your friend yells out the lyrics to a song you both know. You can’t help but admire that they feel the same way you do.

Halfway through, your voice starts to hurt. You’ve screamed and hollered. The joy is bursting out of you. Everyone around you is dancing and singing and enjoying the music. You’ll forever remember the slight change in the song that the artist puts in. The songs on the radio will never be the same. These songs will be held with a slight sentimental part in your heart because now they have a memory attached to them.

The artist finishes up and they go backstage. You yell with what’s left of your voice, there is no way that it could be over. You’ve waited for ages just to be here, it couldn’t have gone by so fast. Where did the time go? You yell again. There is no way that this can be over yet. You whistle, clap and even screech because your voice is hopeless by now. After all of the anticipation, they come back out for at least one more song. Your heart swells with the excitement of one last moment with the artist.

Your breath hitches and you realize you got what you came for. All that time you spent waiting in anticipation for this event, was well worth the wait. A couple hours of your life and money well spent. You make the journey back home and reminisce already about the night’s prior events. You lay your head on your pillow, ears ringing from all of the night's commotion. You smile for a second, but soon you’re met with a wave of sadness, it is finally over. You find yourself having trouble sleeping, so you pull out your phone and look up the next event. You browse for a bit and find it, the next thing you can look forward to. It’s like a bad addiction, you have to go back.

You’re about to do this all over again.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
