Well, the year is coming to an end and I can say that my freshman year went by faster than a melting ice cream cone in the hot summer sun. I remember the day I moved into my bare-walled dorm room and seeing some stranger's belongings on the other side of the room. I was doing fine until it was time for my parents to leave, then I balled my eyes out. I don't really know why I cried I am only like 40 minutes away from home, but I cried, I cried a lot. I remember the first few days we were forced to go to all these events to get us to meet new people and I don't think I am even friends with most of those people I met then. But I would say I have a pretty awesome friend group now.
My dorm room was the place I called home for the last 9 months. From the sleepovers, to study dates, to parties to squad meetings, to balling our eyes out in the middle of the night, this room has seen everything. For a room so small and so boring when I moved in, I never would have thought it would end up to be this homey and cozy. My roommate and I hated the cinderblock white walls so we covered as much of it as humanly possible. One time we both had shitty weekends, so we printed out our favorite quotes and hung them up on our "Quote Wall" If you read them, you'd think that a lot of them are sad and depressing, but it shows how .we were feeling that weekend.
We had movie nights in here when we all watched Enchanted and sang along to every song, and I mean every song. Our neighbors probably hated us because one, we are terrible singers and two, the walls are extremely thin, so you could hear us loud and clear. We would complete makeovers and rant about boys. Sometimes make Mac and Cheese at 1 AM. Late night eating is defiantly a thing in college.
Our thermostat probably hates us too because my roommate and I would always bicker about the temperature. Always flicking the switch between low, high and off. The times were rare that we could agree on the temperature of the room. In the beginning of the year, we kept our room nice, always cleaning. Now we don't give a crap, we will try to clean but it is a mess within the next hour.
So, goodbye my freshman dorm room. I have some great memories about this room, and will miss you, but only a little. Make sure you're a good home to the girls that live here next year.
