The Bad, The OK And The Wonderful About Going Back To School
Syd Wolf

Everyone loves going back to school but is always a little nerve-wracking. Going back to a new school year ends one adventure and starts a new beginning. There are always bad things, great things and everything else in between

1. The Bad

1. Leaving your family and friends behind.

Watching the people closest to you cry is the saddest thing ever.

2. You're no longer in your "own bed."

You have to leave your bed at home behind, but good thing you have your own bed at school.

3. Your normal routine changes.

You may have to change when you shower, or when you wake up and go to sleep.

4. Sleeping in isn't always an option anymore.

You can't sleep the day away, every single day (unless you just don't go to class?.. don't do that though.)

5. No more home-cooked meals for a while.

Mom and dad are no longer there to help you make dinner.

2. The OK

1. You get a new bed and space.

Beds are obviously a positive thing no matter what, and you get to put new decor out!

2. Classes are better.

You get to pick classes and make your year fun if you want to.

3. You get to take naps if you want.

Have downtime? Take a nap. Sleep is fun.

4. You can go to the store whenever you want to.

You have freedom now, go walk around a shop.

5. You get to try new food.

School food is either super good or bad, but you still get to try it.

3. The Wonderful

1. You get to start a new adventure.

You finally are on your own and can start over if you want to.

2. You can organize your room however you want to.

It's your room (and your roommate's, if you have one).. get crafty!

3. You can be whoever you want.

It's a new place. . . be who you want, not who everyone wants you to be.

4. There are discounts to almost everything.

It's pretty awesome getting most things with a discount.

5. FINALLY GETTING TO SEE YOUR FRIENDS AGAIN!!!

THE BEST PART IS SEEING FRIENDS YOU HAVEN'T IN BASICALLY THREE MONTHS!!!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
