Let's face it. Loans are very stressful. Especially when there is there all those loans waiting there after graduate to be paid. Before even considering taking out any loans, you have to consider what can you do to avoid loans as much as possible? Scholarships and grants. Scholarships are offered by many schools and online. Some you have to have a certain GPA, some you have to be majoring in something specific or you have to write an essay about something. Scholarships are everywhere, you just got to look for them.Just searching scholarships on any search engine will get you started into finding free money. Also there are grants from the government such as the Pell Grant. High school graduates in the U.S. leave more than $2.9 Billion in free federal grant money unused almost each year. Each year for 6 years for college students apply for the Pell Grant by filling out the FASFA. For high school juniors and seniors, you should start looking for scholarships and grants right away. It's mostly better to search for them during junior year. When applying for scholarships NEVER NEVER NEVER stop applying. You have to keep applying because even if you do not get one there is a chance that you will get all the thousands of other ones you have applied for, Make sure to not miss the deadlines. Those are the most important part. You need to know when the deadlines are. Setting time aside for applying to all these scholarships is important. If you do not set aside for applying to these scholarship, you cannot guarantee that you will find a good scholarship. There are also scholarship apps you can download on your phone as well. There are many scholarships for students who have family members in the military. The government and different organizations have a lot of scholarships and grants designed for the students of military veterans and even better students who are in the military can go to college and not have to pay a dime, if that is the career path you want to take. By taking this career path, you can serve your country, get your degrees and avoid paying off school loans that haunt college graduates 6 months after they graduate. There are many different ways to get free money for college and so many opportunities. Just got to look.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
