If you scroll through your Twitter or Facebook news feed, you will see a variety of statuses. First, you'll see posts from college students who are excited to go back into the world of lectures and frat houses. Then, you'll see other statuses from high school students who aren't ready to spend six hours a day imprisoned in a building that looks like it was built to hold convicts. You don't think about it much, but the reactions of going back to school changes so much from when you are in high school to when you are in college.
High School
You've been hanging out with your friends all break ,so you are literally going to a place full of people you hate. The only people in your corner are your small group of friends, who fortunately hate all the same people you do.
College
You've been separated from your friends for a month and you can't wait to be back with them. The group message you have set up is just not cutting it anymore. You've already made plans for the second you get back to frolic around together, and you couldn't be more excited.
High School
You go back to the schedule you had during the first half of the year. You can walk to each one of your classes in your sleep. You don't have to learn a new set of classes with new people.
College
You haven't looked at your schedule since you made it last semester. All you are aware of is that your professors have been blowing up your emails with introductions, lists of supplies you need, books, and syllabi. You are excited to start brand new with all the professors and courses. It's like a fresh slate, so nothing is affected by the mistakes you made last semester.
High School
Whenever you get back from a break, you know there is bound to be some drama. Everyone was out in the world for too long, and of course people under the age of 18 don't know how to handle that. So someone screwed up, and now, since everyone is back in the same place again, everyone knows about it.
College
You have little or no idea what anyone did over break and it really doesn't come up much. No one knows anything you did; it's a win-win situation. Everyone is just excited to be back and couldn't be happier.
High School
You are tired. The break flew by in a blink of an eye. It didn't help that you only had a total of two weeks to relax. You also didn't relax most of the break, because you were running around like a wild child with your friends for most of it.
College
By the time break is finally over, you are ready to get back into the swing of things. You've had an entire month to put off responsibilities of life and you couldn't be a more relaxed version of yourself.
