They say that once you leave for college that you should not go home during the first month. Why? You will either stay and not go back to college or once you got back to college, you would be very homesick. About a month ago, my parents dropped me off at Liberty University for the spring semester of classes. Since dropping me off, I have gone to all of my classes, except for one. I have received many free shirts and different items. I have made tons of friends and ate tons of food. Ask my roommate, the freshmen 15 does not exist at Liberty!
I am very blessed to have parents that would spend ten hours on the road just to pick me up and take me home. I don't have a car on campus and I probably won't until next year. If you go to Liberty, you know that everything is in walking distance. Well, for me, it is. I live on the Hill on campus and I am glad for how close the buildings are to me. I got home late Friday night and slept most of the day on Saturday. I was able to go shopping with my mom and pick up some things for my dorm room and roommates. I was able to drive my dad's car, which I missed driving, to pick up my sister from being with her boyfriend and his parents. I was able to do a lot of things that I wasn't expecting to do.
I have a feeling that I will not be homesick once I return to Liberty because within the month of being away, Liberty has become my home. I did not know what to expect once I got home. Honestly, when I hit the steps of my house, it was as if I had never left. If you know me, you know that I have an independent personality and I could live on my own. I decided that I needed a break from Liberty and just wanted a taste of home. If you feel like you need to go home for a weekend once you are in college, my advice is to go home. Going home is a great refresher and the time being away from college will help you get yourself back into the pace that you need to complete the semester.
