You think you know exactly where your life is going, but you don't. You think you know just how the next however many years are going to go and where you're going to be, but you don't. The truth is you can have a plan and you can think that you know, you can even know how you want it to go, but you can never really know. No matter how hard you try to make your plan work it is not about your plan, but it is about His.
One of the hardest things in this word to accept is not knowing. If you had told me a year ago that my life right now would be how it is, I never would have believed you. Furthermore, I can't tell you that right now it's easy. This is the point, it's not about what I thought I was going to do. God has a plan for my life and it is not exactly the one that I wanted, or so I thought. Some morning I know I am going to wake up and realize why all of this is happening. That doesn't make the here and now any easier but it does give us hope.
We can have hope because He knows exactly what he is doing with us. He talks to us too, if we listen. He does tell us why He is doing what He is doing. And again, this doesn't mean that this makes it easier at the time to accept that this is the way it has to be right now.
So this is the way it has to be...right now. Right now is not forever. Maybe everything you thought was going to happen, the end goal, the plan you had, will. Maybe it will. It might just not be the journey you thought it would be, but that just means it is going to be so much sweeter when you arrive there.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
