I was sitting at the beach today, looking out into the beautiful blue water and taking in how it looks, like it goes on forever. I was in amazement by how much beauty surrounded me. I was trying to come up with words to describe how gorgeous it was and then it came to me.
God's love is like the ocean.
God's love is beautiful, calming, peaceful, one of a kind, endless. It is plentiful and vast. God's love is huge.
He loves us to an immeasurable degree. His love for us is never-ending. His love for us is eternal.
Most of us often go through times when we feel unlovable. We sometimes feel as though we are inadequate. We feel like we aren't good enough. We think these thoughts so frequently that we often forget how much we are loved by a God whose love won. Whose love defeats evil, whose love sees our brokenness and heals our hearts.
"I have loved you with an everlasting love." Jeremiah 31:3
God's love for us never ends, never seizes, never dissipates. He loves us with a love that is like no other. A love that is different than a boyfriend's love for you, a love that is bigger than a love a friend has for you, a love that is greater than anyone else could ever have for you. His love fills any emptiness we may feel. His love takes up any voids in our heart. His love gives us rest when we are restless. His love heals and make us whole. He loves us when we make mistakes, when we don't love ourselves and when we slip up. He loves us when we act like we don't love Him. Where sin runs deep, His love runs deeper.
"I loved you at your darkest." Romans 5:8
God's love is bigger than your mistakes, bigger than your faults, bigger than your confusion, bigger than anyone could ever imagine. His love is constant when we are not. His love is faithful when we are not.
And here is where it gets tricky...
We must love others how God loves us.
We were made in God's image, we were made in love.
"As I have loved you, love one another." John 13:34
In a world filled with hatred, hostility, revenge and resentment we need to love others how God loves us.
See, God loves the outsider, He loves the underdog and He loves the rebellious one. He doesn't tell us to exclude, make fun of or tear down the ones who may make mistakes. The world just loves to hate.
"Let all that you do be done in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14
So let your work be done in love. Let your criticism be done in love. Let all of your actions radiate love. Let your words and attitude be filled with love. -- and you will change lives.
