College consists of meeting new people, experiencing new things, and possibly making some of the best memories of your life. While all these things will happen, it's inevitable to say that you will never experience negative emotions too. I think it's normal to say that we all get lonely, overwhelmed, or stressed out, especially in college. I've even heard some adults claim that "since we're in college" we have nothing to worry about. Well, I'm here to say they're wrong. Whether we're young or not, we still stress.

College students can have the best support system there is and still manage to experience some of these negative feelings sometimes. When you're feeling like there is no way out, you can always turn to the powerful words of the Bible. Here's some encouraging Bible verses that will hopefully lift some of the weight that college has slammed onto your shoulders.

When you're feeling like everything is going wrong.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." Matthew 7:8

When you're feeling conflicted or confused.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight." Proverbs 3:5

When you're feeling lonely.

"The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged." Deuteronomy 31:8

When you're feeling overwhelmed.

"Cast all your anxiety on him: because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7

When you're feeling sad.

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4

When you're feeling like you're not smart enough.

"Whoever restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding." Proverbs 17:27

When you're feeling exhausted.

"Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; 31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:30-31

When you're feeling selfish.

"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." Philippians 2:3-4

So the next time you're about to reach your breaking point and need reassurance, trust in these powerful words that He has provided for us. Throughout all the trials we will be faced with in college, God reminds us that we are never alone.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
