Goals As A 20 Year Old

New age New Goals

So I turned 20 a week ago and decided that I should establish some goals for myself as I am starting to experience this new age. Turning 20 is pretty cool because now you are no longer a teenager you are an adult. You gotta look at things at different prospective in a way.

1) Become more responsible with money

So already I am in credit card debt which is very sad. My bank gave me a credit card with an $800 credit limit and I went wild with spending like crazy and completely maxed it out. So my goal was to just pay it off completely and cut it up but I decided to just basically pay it off and learn how to manage a credit card wisely. Credit cards are not something to goof and just play around with it. It is there when you need something but do not have the money to pay for it right now but will soon have it so you can eventually pay back the money that you used on the credit card. My granddad has been trying to explain to me for so many years but I never listened and got myself trapped in debt.

2) Learn to save money

Being a girl and all I love to shop. Shopping is my favorite thing in the world. I love to shop for clothes, shoes, makeup and my favorite, food. Saving money is vital to survival. You never know when you might actually need something and then don't have the money or funds to pay for it because you are just spending without thinking and having a good time. And it is perfectly fine to have a good time but in order to buy things I want, I got to save up the money first.

3) Find a second job

My current job as a cashier is pretty okay but it is not enough money to cover the bills I have to pay. And I can't work a full-time job because I can only do part time since I got to school full time.

4) Study Abroad

Some of my friends in college have studied abroad in some country or state. Studying abroad is something that I always wanted to do. I am not sure what country or place that I want to go to study but I know I want to experience traveling and studying somewhere where I have never been before because I know it will be a good experience being away from home. Also, it would be nice to learn about other people's cultures and lifestyles. I think it would even be cool to just even try to learn another language of the people of where I decide to travel to.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
