Pokemon: Go! is possibly the biggest thing right now in mobile gaming. It comes in the form of an app, downloaded on to a smart phone. You can walk around your neighborhood or community and catch wild Pokemon by throwing Pokeballs at them once you get close enough. There are places you can go to get power-ups and things that help your character. I will admit to playing this game for a little while. It wasn't as fun as people make it out to be, at least I have played more entertaining games on my phone. It has become nothing but truly and completely annoying.
There are good aspects, as there are to every game. In this case, the good just doesn't out weigh the bad. There are kids getting hit by cars because of this game. Who can we blame for these accidents? These games are supposed to be safe for the users. There are always going to be people who don't pay attention and get hurt, but that happens with things as simple as a game of catch. These games are designed so that there are Pokemon in the middle of busy intersections. There could be solutions, like a better game design, but that hasn't happened yet despite all of the accidents that have happened.
Aside from that, people are breaking out into fist fights over Pokemon. I'm sure it has happened before with other games. This could be related to all kinds of games, like Monopoly or something as simple as dodge ball. People get emotionally involved and make irrational decisions not only in games but in every day life. The games are not to blame for this even if they do add fuel to the fire. When these confrontations can be avoided, sometimes it is best to avoid them.
These problems are with careless people, and not really the game itself. There are lots of problems with the game itself. When I tried to play it, every single time I would find a rare thing to catch, the servers would crash. When the servers crashed, once I got back on, the stuff I was trying to catch was long gone. This is more frustrating than pants with fake pockets, and no one likes pants with fake pockets. This could probably be fixed once the game is older, and has gone through some updates. On top of that, you can catch all this stuff, but it isn't clear what you want to do with it. Do you just walk around and catch Pokemon just to say you have them? Catching them all is the ultimate goal for any Pokemon fan, but that is not an easy thing to do when there are three or four types that constantly show up. The creators have admitted this is a problem and they are trying to fix it.
This game needs a lot of work before it can handle the popularity is has received. Until then, the only place Pokemon should go is away.
