High school has a way of making you feel epically stuck. You feel trapped in the classes that seem unnecessary with the teachers who seem like they don't care. You still answer to your parents, and many times it may feel like they are just saying "no" to make your life terrible (they aren't, they love you, give them a hug because this time is hard for them, too). All in all you just feel trapped, and that is normal. Stick it out, work hard and get the best grades you can, because what I'm about to tell you depends on those good grades.
Go away for college! I really can't stress this enough. Do not go to college where it is less than an hour drive to get home (I'm sorry, parents). I say this for a few reasons.
1. College is a time in your life where you need to learn how to fend for yourself, and you can't do that if your mom is in the bedroom next to yours. Being thrown into situations that you have to handle on your own is part of becoming an adult.
2. You get to fend for yourself! You get to be anyone you want and do anything you want without that person from your high school coming up and asking why you're wearing a cowboy hat because you didn't do that before.
3. You make amazing friends. Everyone is in the same boat as you; scared and open to all the new opportunities that this fresh start has to offer—namely, new friendships.
4. You get to experience and explore a brand new place. Who doesn't love adventures?
5. The final reason is this:Tall the reasons I listed above work in harmony to make you a happier, more confident person.
College is a magical time in every person's life. To the all the high school students who feel stuck, hang in there. Focus on your classes and get good grades. That won't be happening in college (I'm sorry, parents).
