College kids do not get enough credit for making every aspect of their life work out the way it is supposed to. How on earth do we do it?
When you're regretting your Saturday on Sunday, remember all the things you have to deal with.
1. You just rolled out of bed super hungover from a really thirsty Thursday, but you look put together and stroll into class casually. No one has any clue how dark the bags under your eyes are behind those Ray-Bans. You slept in that shirt? Everyone thinks you are going for that "I don't try too hard" look. You're seriously a super star.
2. You balance friends, boyfriends, and sisters all while also hating everyone. In college, you never get any time alone. You deserve some major kudos for being able to handle constant socialization, roommates, classmates, etc. We all would rather be in bed with Netflix. Rock on.
3. You had to take out the trash and figure out how to pay the water bill? You have adulthood all figured out- well not quite. You are just trying to have a good time while handling grown up responsibilities. You've never had to call a repairman or change lightbulbs before. You are figuring out what having your own place is all about. You're so adult.
4. Budgeting is hard. You want those Tory Burch riding boots, but you have to pay a parking ticket...and pay for books. Compromising is something college kids learn to deal with. You are balancing a budget for the first time, which requires some tough choices. You want new Lululemon leggings, but that means you have starve for a week? You can spend your $50 dollars on groceries or on vodka sodas at Pachinko's. You make the right choices. Keep doing you.
5. You look flawless for Broken Clock and still make it out to the bars at night? It takes some skill to pace yourself for a 10 hour drinking extravaganza. You pick the perfect outfit to transition from day to night. You manage to figure out what slows you down and keeps you going when it comes to partying. You're practically royalty.
6. And you are preparing yourself for the career world? I think most parents assume we don't go to class and have terrible eating habits, but in reality a lot of us are building resumes and joining clubs. We go to career fair, spring ICE and work really hard because we know one day we will be in the real world. So professional.
Give yourself a pat on the back for being able to balance the true reason you came to college and all of the fun stuff. Give yourself a little credit.
We all know you've rewarded yourself a little too much.
