With Thanksgiving less than a week away it's the time of the year for college students to be stressed out from tests, group projects, and the realization that the semester is coming to an end.
For the past week or so I've seen countless students including myself rushing around frantically trying to accomplish as much as possible in a day. While being productive is great, it gets to a point where you can stop taking time out of your day to take a breath and appreciate your life. I constantly catch myself being too focused on the negatives some days like how I have 2 tests, a paper to write, and countless chapters to read and complain about it instead of thinking about what that actually means.
Everything I do for class is teaching me things that will benefit my future. Whether it be learning a new skill or just teaching me discipline about how to balance out my life better, having the opportunity to receive an education is a privilege that I take for granted.
Thanksgiving should not be the only day that we pause to be thankful about our lives. We have been blessed more immensely than we know. If you're reading this article that means that
1. You can read.
2. You have access to the Internet.
3. You have access to a computer.
And that's only a few of the thousands of reasons that we should be thankful. Having a roof over your head, clean water to drink, and food to eat is already a blessing on a daily basis and something that millions of people are deprived of.
Over the course of the next few stressful weeks I encourage college students, myself included, to stop complaining about the amount of work you have to do and instead appreciate that you're given the opportunity to receive the education that you are.
Thanksgiving is a day where we are thankful for what we have, but in reality we should be appreciative every single day no matter how tired or stressed we may be.
Never take a single thing in your life for granted and always be thankful.
