"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill
Christmas is right around the corner, and soon everyone will be singing, "It's the most wonderful time of the year!" Is it really the most wonderful time of the year though? It might be for those of us who live comfortably, but what about those of us who are struggling to make ends meet? Is it the most wonderful time of the year for the single mom that is living paycheck to paycheck, and doesn't know how she is going to provide for her family with a Thanksgiving meal or Christmas presents? We take our sometimes awkward family Thanksgiving dinners for granted.
In 2015, 42.2 million Americans were living in situations where they didn't know where their next meal was going to come from. Of those 42.2 million, 13.1 million were children. We can help those people this holiday season. You can donate canned goods to your local food bank. You can find your local food bank by going to Feeding America's website. You can donate clothes that you no longer wear to a local homeless shelter. You can donate toys that your children no longer play with to a local shelter or orphanage. If you have no items to give, you can volunteer and give your time to one of your local organizations.
I am going to list some places in Louisville, Kentucky that you can donate to
-Dare to Care
-Home of the Innocents
-Wayside Christian Mission
-Family Scholar House
These are just a few of many places in Louisville, Kentucky that you can help. I would like to encourage you to help others, and pass on the message. We can make a difference in so many people's lives this holiday season and many more to come.
