With the recent election, a lot of organization, specifically ones that benefit minorities, are being affected. Let's be honest though, organizations and causes that benefit minorites have always been pretty neglected. Now though, it's the perfect time to show minorites support. "But what can I do?" Let me tell you reader- you can give a donation to an organzation or a cause that supports minorities. You can even give it as a gift to someone- by donating under their name!

I'm not going to sit here and guilt trip you, but I am going to honest with you. Minorities are being shown and told that they are not welcome, and that they are less than by government and by fellow Americans. Giving a monetary donation, can keep these minorities organizations afloat, and help causes so much.

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality."

-Desmond Tutu

Here are some of the many causes and organizations you can donate to!

1. Standing Rock Sioux Tribe protesting the DAPL

I cannot stress this cause enough. The government is trying to build a pipeline right through Native american land- if that pipeline leaked it could ruin their water supply.

2. Planned Parenthood

3. The Trevor Project

Why donations are important:

"Holidays can be difficult for LGBTQ youth who feel all alone. In fact, winter is the busiest time of year for our emergency response volunteers. Last winter, we spent 402,300 minutes talking with youth who reached out to us for help. And this season, we’re taking steps to be as prepared as possible when the phone rings.

$30 helps us talk to one youth for 30 minutes and $60 helps keep our lines going for nearly an hour. With your help this season, we can fully ensure that LGBTQ youth know they are never alone. "

4. Transgender Law Center

5. Wounded Warrior Project

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
