A Girl's Thoughts on the Grammys

Every girl since they were little always loved to watch the Grammys. Seeing the beautiful gowns on the red carpet, to seeing your favorite artists performing this incredible show. Now that we are older we have different things that come to mind when watching the Grammys.

First things first, so much buzz about Rihanna's dress. People were saying that she looked like Barbie on top of a cake. Now I am not sure who made her think this was a good idea, but it sure brought a lot of humor to her fans.

Although there were a lot of older people who probably appealed to the “mom and dad” crowds, I was a little thrown off by that, but I did really enjoy ACDC’s opening performance. They were someone who I grew up listening to because of my parents that seeing them perform songs I knew and loved was something I enjoyed and thought was very cool.

Sam Smith. A man who will melt every girl’s heart. Not only did he win the first Grammy of the night, he won three more after that.

Ed Sheeran and John Mayer are two artists that go so well together that collaborating them in a performance was great, but I felt like John Mayer was just a back up singer for Ed Sheeran and that they should’ve sang more of a duet type song.

Once it his Usher’s performance I was getting over watching the Grammy’s due to all the songs people were performing, the award to performance ratio was not even, and realizing this is a three and a half award show I was starting to get very over it, but I had to wait to see a few more performances so I stayed up even though I was fighting going to sleep.

Sia has an amazing voice and I am a fan of her songs, but her performance was not something that I liked. I felt like it was just weird, uncomfortable and that she was trying to impress people with her performance rather than her singing abilities.

The two performances that made watching all three and a half hours of watching the Grammy’s was Queen B’s and Rihanna, Kanye, and Paul McCartney’s.

Queen B (Beyonce) is a women that people all around the world aspire to be like and are addicted to her songs. She amazed up by her beautiful “Heaven” like performance after she already won an award for her hit song “Drunk in Love.” Although I kind of wished she sang a song that was more upbeat and a hit song, she sang it with beauty and class. We all love Queen B, and love everything that she does.

The hit song of the night was the performance we all wanted to see because the new catchy song is stuch in our heads 24/7. “Four Five Seconds” has trended immensely since it was released just on January 24th. This is a clash with Rihanna’s beautiful vocals, Kanye’s sense of hip hop and Paul McCartney’s legendary sound. I do not know one person who does not like this song, and watching the performance made me and everyone I was with like the song that much more.

(Although this isn't the performance that was released last week)

Although the Grammy’s were long, they were worth watching. They will still be the show that we will waste 4 hours of our lives watching that one night every year.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
