A Girl's Guide To College Told By Carrie Bradshaw

Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha. Four iconic names that immediately bring you back to the days of the hit HBO series Sex and the City! Carrie, along with her epic love story with Mr. Big, is well-known for her nuggets of wisdom in each episode. Although the show has been over for over ten years, Ms. Bradshaw's wise words can still help out college girls across America through those tough times we all go through. Here are just a few of the ultimate single girl's best pieces of advice!

1. "Sometimes we need to stop analyzing the past, stop planning the future, stop figuring out precisely how we feel, stop deciding what we want, and just see what happens."

This one is something all of us college girls are guilty of. From trying to plan out exactly what you want to do after graduation to spending hours talking with your friends if you should've made a greater effort with that guy 3 months ago, we sometimes can't help but worry. College is four of the greatest years of our lives and we should live in the moment and live it up!

2. "It's comforting to know that the ones you love are always in your heart."

Adjusting to living on your own can be very hard for some people, especially those that are very close with their families. But, as Carrie pointed out, it's always nice to know that your family is a phone call away and always in your heart.

3. "Maybe our mistakes are what make our fate."

Everybody makes mistakes. It's inevitable that in college you are going to make your fair share of mistakes, but you will learn from them and only become stronger from it.

4. "The universe may not always play fair, but at least it's got a hell of a sense of humor."

Things are not always going to go your way, or how you expected, but everything happens for a reason. In college especially, you have to learn how to laugh at yourself and shake off the bad things in order to focus on the good.

5. "Life gives you a lot of chances to screw up, which means you have just as many chances to get it right."

Sometimes you have to learn how to look at the situation with the 'glass half-full' perspective, especially during those terrible weeks where you have 2 exams, 3 papers, and a group project. There is always something to smile about.

6. "Don't forget to fall in love with yourself first."

This one is essential and doesn't really need an explanation of why. Bradshaw hit the nail on the head with how important it is to put yourself and your happiness first.

7. "The most exciting, challenging, and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you that you love, well, that's just fabulous."

So many times, especially in relationships in college, girls forget to consider themselves in the relationship. A guy should love you for who you are and not who you pretend to be, otherwise it's not worth it.

8. "Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with."

Boys may come and go in your life, but at the end of the day your friends will be the ones there with a movie and ice-cream when you're left heartbroken. That's something we should never forget!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
