A Girl With A Dream

I don’t know about you but I believe in fairytales. I am not talking about your typical cookie cutter boy meets girl, prince and princess fairytale, I am talking about your real life happily ever after that comes with hard work and a big dream. I am sure you are asking yourself what in the world is she talking about how is that a fairytale? It might not be your version of a fairytale but it sure is mine. My fairytale happily ever after would be me with a job that makes me incredibly happy but works at making a difference in the world. It’s also having a husband that loves me for me and supports me in all that I do and is an amazing father to our children that we will either adopt or have naturally. It’s me being surrounded by a support system of family and friends who love me. To me fairytales are not perfect, they are works in progress. They are you working hard chasing after your dreams whatever your dreams might be.

This being said your fairytale probably looks much different than mind does and that is incredible. I don’t think that any two fairytales should ever be the same. They should be whatever you want them to be. I believe that is the beauty of life we get to create our own paths and follow our own dreams. This way we can all watch as our stories unfold and it won’t ever be the same story it will always be different. Fairytales always begin with a dream.

I am a girl with a dream chasing after her fairytale. I don’t know what that is right now exactly and maybe my Peace Corps journey right as it may be is me running away from my dreams and where life might take me next, but I’m still dreaming and I always will because I am a girl with a dream and I’m never going to give up. I might be running away now trying to find myself and maybe that is just part of my fairytale.

So I am here now challenging you to dream and to dream big. Chase after your fairytale, your happily ever after whatever that may be. Don’t ever stop until you find your deepest desire and your biggest dreams. I especially hope that you will never give up out of fear; truly fear is just a lie that your mind has been created. Find your dream find whatever it is that makes your heart tick and chase after it. Be like me be a person with a dream trying to find your happiness. Life is truly what you make it and I am here to tell you that dream might be hard and scary but when you achieve that dream it is beautiful and forever worth the risk. I have failed time and time again but I have never given up and my life is richer because of that. Failure is just a part of the fairytale so dream big my dears dream big.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
