Living on a college budget can be quite a daunting task, especially when all you want after a long day is some Chipotle and Dairy Queen, but it can be done. Although I think it is important to spend money on things you enjoy, I have a habit of holding onto my money for dear life (as much as I can anyway), so this one's for everyone else out there who hates spending money. Here are fifteen things you say to yourself on a daily basis when watching your bank account drop even the slightest bit is your worst nightmare.
1. "Why is everything SO expensive?"
2. "That (insert blank) costs HOW much?"
3. "Why can't everything be free?"
4. "I'm just trying not to make my bank account hate me, you know?"
6. "I just spent $23 today, guess I can't eat or drive anywhere for the rest of the week."
7. "Please, please let me win the lottery."
8. "What am I buying at the grocery store, you ask? The cheapest option for every item, DUH and no, it's not weird to buy $0.66 Raviolis!"
9. "I really wanted that until I read the price tag."
10. "Sales, discounts, coupons, and saving money in general literally gives me life."
11. "I don't remember the last time I spent money and didn't inwardly cringe while handing over money to the cashier."
12. "Maybe I should buy this because I need it. Nope, I'll just have to make do."
13. "Putting money into my bank account is better than waking up on Christmas morning as a child."
14. "Don't go to the mall, don't go get food. Just basically don't leave the house and it'll be fine."
15. "Sometimes I wish I was a spender. Just kidding, I don't. I think I'd cry too much."
One million other similar thoughts go through my mind regularly, and if you're like me, you understand my pain, so let's keep our spirits high and our spending habits low. We got this, guys!
