As A Girl, I Would Rather Hang Out With My Guy Friends Than A Group Of Girls

I had to cut out the drama once I entered college and that left me with more guy friends than girl friends.

When you're a little kid, everyone is your friend. There are not very many people that you come across that you dislike. Usually, the only confrontations you have with others are over your peers not sharing their candy or not letting you have a turn on the swing at the park. As you grow up, though, your "friends" list starts to thin out. You kind of start to have a certain friend group, resulting in a few close friends.

As I grew up, I played a sport so most of my friends were my female teammates. However, as I got older, I started to gain more guy friends than girl friends. Everyone gets over the "cooties" phase at this point.

I had, and still have, female and male friends. However, I spend most of my time with my guy friends. And I have a perfectly good reason for this.

Honestly, girls are drama.

Growing up, there was just so much drama all the time, especially in the middle school and early high school days. Boys and dating are starting to become a big part of our lives, which is like the main source of the drama.

Also, there's so much gossip. If I make a girl friend mad, she'll most likely talk to other girls about it, which causes this big circle of gossip, whether this was her intention or not. That's how rumors get started though.

It's also really easy to cause an argument or fight with other girls. Sometimes saying things will just set them off. Obviously, I'm a girl, so I understand that giving me attitude is going to annoy me. However, I'm going to tell you straight-up that I don't need your attitude. I'm not going to give you the silent treatment for days or cause a big falling out.

I'm not bashing females. I'm a female, and yeah, I've probably done some of these annoying things before. Over time, though, it gets old. All that drama is just so unnecessary.

There's just so much less to deal with when you hang out with guys.

There's no drama and no gossip. The guys just sit around and chill. They will tell you when you irritate them. They will tell you how it is, while most girls won't.

Like I said, I still have girl friends. I don't just hate females. Everyone has their flaws, and no one is perfect. I just had to cut out the drama once I entered college and that left me with more guy friends than girl friends.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
