True girl friends will absolutely change your life. For so long I lived never having any real girl friends at all, of course I had my incredible mother, but never anyone my age who is at the same weird spot in life that I am. I never thought I needed them to be honest, but all of the sudden I realized I have about three and I couldn't picture my life without them. Having people who want to genuinely spend time with you just because they enjoy your company as much as you enjoy theirs is probably one of the best feelings in the world. Having someone check in with me about how I am doing and who also bothers to ask how my boyfriend is, out of genuine kindness instead of nosiness is mind blowing. For so long I have only had experiences with people who only sought me out because they needed something from me, but now that I found a group of girls who care about just because they do, I don't know how I would live without them.

Girl friends are probably one of the most important relationships we as women can have. You can love your boyfriend (or guy friend) so much, but there are some things he is never going to want to do with you. He is never going to want to go get his nails done and chatter on about Fixer Upper. He is never going to want to go walk around Bed Bath and Beyond with you for hours just so you can look at every item in the store. He is never going to care about the merit of different essential oils or the intricacies of finding the just right fit of workout tights. And that is OK! Guys will always want to do things that we will never want to do either. We are different and that is what makes it work, but you still need someone to do all those things you love with, and that's where your girl friends come in.

Your girl friends are the ones who you can sit and talk to for hours about literally anything. They are the ones who are going to go with you to make the boring parts of life like running errands the highlight of your day. They are the ones who are going to understand what your goals are and work with you to achieve them because they have the same ones! (Have you ever gone to the gym with someone who has a completely different end result they are aiming for and tried to workout with them? It is pretty much the worst and you wind up with huge neck muscles.) Girl friends are the people you are going to go eat brunch with and go see that children's' movie you have been dying to watch with. They are the ones who will honestly tell you if you look good in that outfit or not. They are the ones who are going to laugh and cry with you because they just understand. They get where you are coming from and they know exactly why you feel a certain way because they have been there too.

Life isn't nearly as fun without a girls nights. And I am so sad it took me 19 years to figure that out, but I am grateful that today I can honestly say that I have friends who I cherish, and I know will never abandon me. So, I guess it was worth the wait!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
