Why Every Girl Should Cut Their Hair Short Sometime In Their Life

Something as simple as getting a haircut can change a woman’s life. A woman’s hair can define who she is or who she wants to be. Some women opt for just a simple trim, while others are fans of bold cuts and crazy hairstyles. When I was in high school I was a shy, quiet girl. I had just transferred to a new school and I didn’t know anyone. I was never the type of girl to do crazy things with her appearance; I kinda just liked to blend in with the crowd.

That all changed on a Saturday morning. I remember waking up that morning and feeling like I needed to change. I felt like my hair wasn’t truly showing who I was, so I made a hair appointment and within an hour I was in a salon chair telling my hairdresser, “I want it all off, cut it short and funky”. I couldn’t even believe those words came out of my mouth. Soon I saw pieces of my hair drop to the floor and the panic began to strike. I thought I made a huge mistake, I thought I’d look like a boy after this was finished. I powered through the panic and after an hour I looked up to the mirror and was shocked.

A wave of confidence crashed over me, I could see my entire face. Nothing was hiding my features and I had to admit I looked pretty great. Walking out of that hair salon it was like I had a new outlook on life, I felt as though I could do anything I wanted to without being stopped. It was like I finally allowed my real self to come out of its cage that it had been locked in for so long. After two years since I first cut my hair short, I continued to keep it short and funky. It may sound funny, but my hair really allowed me to find myself in a way.

I was able to express myself more and not hold back on trying different styles. I was more confident in my appearance and body, even though nothing changed except my hair. I felt so free with short hair and I felt unique, I’ve never felt that feeling before. Fast-forward four years and my hair is no longer short, but I want to send a message to anyone debating on cutting their hair short. Many girls are totally freaked out when they cut their hair, but its just hair and it’ll grow back. So have fun with your hair, cut it super short! I mean you only live once, so have fun with it. Cutting your hair short will really show you how beautiful you truly are.

Since you don’t have any hair to hide behind people will see your whole face and noticed exactly how beautiful you are and they will envy your confidence that you did something bold with your hair. The bottom line is that when you cut your hair really short you learn more about your beauty and yourself. It’s very freeing and a wonderful journey to take. You’ll find out things about yourself you never knew and if anyone doesn’t like your hair then they can go screw off cause you look great. No matter what hairstyle you decide to do, just know that you are beautiful and you can pull off anything.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
