This past weekend I went with my family to SLO/Pismo for a very beachy adventure. And of course I had to try the local eats as well as popular foodie spots. It's funny, because a few of the places we went to were planned ahead of time, but some of the better eats were the ones we just found because we happened to be in the area (and we were hungry, hah). I absolutely love finding new spots, and I find that the more that I travel, the more I find places that I absolutely adore and attach fond memories to. Because really, what is a cute little restaurant by the beach without an amazing crew to eat the food with? Am I right?
SLO Donut Company
The place is cute, and so are the donuts! Their flavors range from azuki bean to thai tea to the delectable strawberry sando pictured above. There's definitely something for everyone, and the donuts are soft and fresh!
Scout Coffee
I am a total coffee nerd and I had heard of this place beforehand, and it definitely exceeded my expectations! Not only is it absolutely gorgeous on the inside (brick wall, a window behind the counter with greenery showing, and an open patio), but the coffee was delicious (both hot and iced lattes were yum!) and so were their baked goods. Overall a great stop, and I would not think twice before going back. Mmm.
Brad's Seafood Restaurant
My mom's friend recommended this place, and we were pretty hungry the night we got to Pismo, so we ate here. It was delicious! I was really in the mood for chowder, and there was the option of adding fresh crab to the top of your bread bowl, so I was really happy with what I ordered! Really yummy chowder and crab!
Surfside Donuts
Just. Yes. Go here if you are in Pismo! We wanted a donut and we found this place and they were so fresh and delicious. Yes, I got a plain sprinkle donut. No, it was not basic or dry. It was perfect! I liked it better than SLO Donut Company and wanted to eat them all. Plus they serve Stumptown Coffee here. Yassss.
Mo's Smokehouse Barbecue
Yum! Chicken barbecue sandwich with slaw + fried green tomatoes were delicious! A lovely afternoon meal.
Wooly's
I had amazing seafood roll here that was amazing. Their fries were also yummy and I would like to go back to try their chowder fries.
Doc Burnstein's
If you're looking to find your inner kid, go to Doc Burnstein's and grab a scoop! Their flavors are unique and delicious, there is a model train that goes around the whole shop, and I hear there are some Pokemon to be caught in the area.
La Cosecha Bar + Restaurant
This place was actually in Paso Robles and we stopped for brunch on our way home. Holy heck! I got the crab cake benedict (superb) and we shared the shrimp and scallop ceviche, which was absolutely flavorful and complete with plantain and tortilla chips. Must try if you're in the area!
