Rory Gilmore and Jess Mariano. In my humble opinion, one of the great power couples of the century. When I heard of the Gilmore Girls revival, one of my first thoughts was concerning Jess. Will he be back? Is he a big time author? Is he still hot? I was growing antsy not knowing the answers to any of these questions, except for that last one because of course he's still hot. He's JESS MARIANO. He has to make an appearance at some point, right? Toward the end of the series, he returned and he and Rory ki-... if you haven't watched "Gilmore Girls" and are not a fan of spoilers, you need to stop reading now... HE AND RORY KISSED! That has to mean something, I'm positive. Sure enough, it was revealed that Jess would be back along with all of Rory's other old boyfriends. Stories starting popping up about the fate of Rory and her men, but I'm here to tell you that all of those stories are rubbish. Rory and Jess belong together, I tell you. They belong together.
One reason that they should end up together in the revival is that they are just similar people. They have similar interests, similar sense of humor and a similar heart. Ever since they first met there was a spark. Today, I could see them reading books on their porch together, laughing at their children running around in the front yard and stealing longing glances at each other when the other isn't looking.
Another reason is the fact that Jess comes back to the series, even if its just for a little bit. The key is that Jess came back not to win Rory over again, but to share with Rory and the loyal fans that he's changed and prove that he got his life together. He published a book, for crying out loud! He wanted to show it off to Rory because he knew she would love it and be so proud (she was). He did not just want to push her into something more, at least not initially.
Now, back to the kiss we were talking about earlier. They kissed because it felt right, in the moment. Granted, Rory was still with Logan at the time, but we will overlook that for now. They kissed because of their pure chemistry, which is reason number three. They'll come back to each other because of their history, they'll stay together because of their chemistry.
I hope this convinced you to switch over to #TeamJess in less than 500 words. We all will be anxiously awaiting the return of Gilmore Girls, and until then we can dream about what possibly could happen. I will mostly be dreaming about dreamy Mariano, but unfortunately I do not have a say. I leave you with the words of Jess, "It's what it is," but God, I hope it's you.
