I used to sit on my couch in my family's living room, next to my sister with my eyes glued to the screen, fantasizing about the Danes, Jessies, and Logans of the world. I related to the young Rory with her shy and quiet demeanor and envied the mother that played the role of her best friend and the wealthy grandparents that frivolously spoiled and praised her. However, the show wasn’t just about Rory; it was filled with contagious personalities like Lorelai, Luke, and Sookie. As I grew up, the show grew with me. I was experiencing highs and lows, college and relationships, and always received a comforting feeling when I pressed play on my Netflix to watch the series (which I may be guilty of watching three full times through). Before the days of binge watching shows on Netflix, there was something that drew me into watching this show regularly on The CW. Was it the relatable endless cups of coffee Lorelai and Rori consumed throughout the show? Or the feeling you got when the camera panned over Luke’s Diner? Here’s why the "Gilmore Girls" reunion is a necessity to the well-being of all of our lives.
1. Because the once gorgeous men of the show are now even better looking.
Dean:
Baby, come back to me...
Luke:
Even more rugged although hotter with the flannel.
Jessie:
Dying inside.
Christopher:
Not sure if he has kids, but he's an absolute DILF.
2. Because we secretly need and learned from Emily's spunk and great advice.
Can you say life goals?
3. Because we low-key miss the most innocent version of Melissa McCarthy.
Before she became the boisterous Megan from "Bridesmaids" or the not-so-well dressed Tammy, Melissa McCarthy played one of my favorite roles in "Gilmore Girls." Why? Duh, because she was always talking about food and cooking. And also because we wake up every morning for the same reason.
4. Because Stars Hollow was just about the cutest town EVER.
Hidden away - supposedly somewhere in Connecticut - was the little town of Stars Hollow. If you didn't secretly want to live there during the duration of watching this show, then you have no taste. Between the cute little festivals and everyone waving to each other on the street, this town was just adorable.
5. Because of the show's awesome guest stars.
Let us not forget the little fling between Chad Michael Murry and Rory during her time at Chilton. Or that time Lorelai went on a brief date with the now very well known Jon Hamm. Obviously the casting director has impeccable taste.
6. Because Lorelai and Rory just get us.
Lorelai and Rory Gilmore are my spirit animals. They drink a lot of coffee and eat a lot of pizza. They never fail to amuse me with their witty quips. The public truly needs more of these two leading ladies.
7. Because WE NEED SOME CLOSURE HERE, PEOPLE.
The last season of "Gilmore Girls" was not intended to be the finale. Who will Rory end up with? Will Luke and Lorelai stay together? Did Emily remarry? Is Lane going to have kids with that guy from the band whose name I never remember? These questions have been bothering me since the last episode. The creators of "Gilmore Girls" have finally decided to react responsibly and hopefully answer some of these questions as they probably feared a planned revolt from fans. Or maybe for other reasons - I don't know.
Basically, "Gilmore Girls" is rumored to grace our presence with a series of four 90-minute movie episodes. I hope for my sanity that all the main characters will be back on board and that my burning questions will be answered.
