7 Ways Lorelai and Rory Gilmore Are My Mother-Daughter Goals

When the news broke that Netflix was bringing back an old favorite, it was time to bring out my old DVD’s and take a trip back to Stars Hollow. 16 years ago, our lives changed forever when the Gilmore’s made an appearance on TV and nested into a little place in our hearts. If you’ve never seen the show, it’s important to know that it is about a single mother and her daughter living in a small Connecticut town, and it’s also important that you start watching it, like right now. Rory and Lorelai have a dynamic relationship that makes you wish you had a relationship like that with your mom. (We’re getting there Ma) Here are 7 ways Rory and Lorelai are the ultimate Mother-Daughter Goals

1. Gilmore Humor

The Gilmore Girls live for their sarcastic jokes and the best part about them is that they get each other. Like do you ever have that moment when your mom says a sarcastic joke and you stare at her with a blank face and question why you weren't the child of Lorelai Gilmore. Seriously, they even have their own tag line!! "You've been Gilmored!"

2. Eating Habits

Never in my life have I seen anymore eat half as much as these two do. Even the residents of Stars Hallow are frequently astonished by the amount that these two can eat in a sitting, and have you seen how thin they are? Imagine how amazing it would be to indulge in a junk food only night, but turn it into a lifestyle? Gilmore's, you're amazing and I praise your eating habits on the daily.

3. Trips

If you've seen the series then you know that the episodes where the girls get out of Stars Hallow are packed with really fun things you wish you could be doing all the time. A concert in New York? Pretending to be a Harvard University student? Beach houses on the water?? Lorelai, can you adopt me already?!

4. Friday Night Dinners

Okay really, you can't watch this show and then act like you have never wanted to attend at least a single Friday Night Dinner. The entire family eating, food brought out by maids, a cocktail party and of course the drama that the night always brings? Mom I believe in you, hire the maid and get a nice fragua on the table.

5. Parties

The Gilmore's throw the most amazing parties, like ever. Remember that one time Rory tried to break the record for world's largest pizza for Lorelai's birthday? Or when Lorelai got Rory a cake with her own face on it? Of course, all credits go to Emily Gilmore who taught Lorelai and Rory the meaning of a real party. Chocolate boxes to go, anyone?

6. The Gilmore Speeches

Focusing on Rory's highschool graduation speech really. Not a dry eye in the crowd, or in my household for that matter. The way that these two talk about each other makes you realize how special it is to have a mom that is also your best friend in your life. Rory, thanks for reminding me to be a better daughter for my mom. You rock mom!

7. The way that they are there for each other

It's amazing to see how willing the Gilmore's are to do everything for each other. The day that Lorelai moves Rory into Yale, thats a special one. Lorelai does everything possible to make sure that Rory is okay before she leaves her off in her big scary dorm, and she does it again when she expects to spend the entire summer with Rory but gets thrown off when Rory lands a journalism job. So thank you Lorelai and Rory for reminding me that whenever I need my mom she is just a phone call, or beep away.

Lorelai and Rory's relationship is one that should definitely inspire Mothers and their Daughters to have a bond like the Gilmore Girls do. Thank you Mom, for being my Lorelai. I love you!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
