After nearly a decade, the well-beloved show Gilmore Girls has been revived on Netflix into a series renamed Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Whether you have been a fan for years or have a newfound fondness of the show, people have been waiting anxiously for what the new episodes will hold.
Being fairly new to the fanbase, I didn't have to wait years for the show to reawaken but I do carry the same excitement as the original fans do. For those who have never watched the show, Gilmore Girls is about a mother, Lorelai Gilmore, who became pregnant at 16 years old to Rory Gilmore. To find freedom and a new life, they moved to Stars Hollow, Connecticut directly following her birth where their lives begin. The show is about their shenanigans as a loving duo that always seem to find themselves in relationship heartaches and the ups and downs that come with life. With relatable storylines in each episode and comedic relief, the show found itself in the hearts of millions worldwide.
Many fans, although excited for the resurgence, felt a bit of nervousness as to how the show would portray its storyline. Would it be over-the-top cheesier than its traditional mother-daughter banter and goofy vocabulary? Would the relationships have changed drastically to the point of awkwardness and disappointment? Would it just be an overall sellout? Without giving away any spoilers or juicy details, the show is a success across screens.
On Friday, November 25, the show was released for the public to watch and enjoy. The standard characters Rory Gilmore, played by Alexis Bledel, and Lorelai Gilmore, portrayed by Lauren Graham, were in their full-on chaotic mode as the series began. Without giving away too many details, their loving relationship is still in tact and as heartwarming as always. Luke Danes, Emily Gilmore, Paris Gellar, Lane Kim, Taylor Doose, and Kirk Gleason, all make their appearances in the show in their own unique and eccentric personalities. Stars Hollow, the town in which the show frequents, is as quaint, small, and disorderly as it always has been and as it should be. All in all, it's pretty hard to be completely disappointed in the show even if it does not turn out exactly as you may have wished.
Now that we have a taste of what the new Gilmore Girls episodes have to offer, well to put it simply, we want to know if there will be more. And if Amy Sherman-Palladino, the writer of the show, is determining whether to continue writing based on fan reaction, well to put it simply once again, we want more!
