How Do We, As People, Get Through Life?

It's wonderful, crazy, unpredictable, sometimes heartbreaking, but how do we get through it?

How Do We, As People, Get Through Life?
Maddie Youngblood

The one question I always find myself asking daily. What is my life? What do I want to do with it? Where am I going to be in five years from now? Are the people in my life right now going to always be there? It's a series of questions I sometimes don't want to know the answers to.

When thinking about life, there's always an unspoken fear around it. We as human beings always find the need to have everything planned out. In high school, we need to know where we want to go to college before you even walk through the doors on your first day. In college, you need to know what you want to do for the rest of your life. After that, you need to find someone to marry and do your life with.

It's a series of stress that affects us. But what if instead of a series of questions and stress, we lived our life with relief. A relief that everything is going to be OK. A relief that life will take us where the World wants us. A relief that life will bring people into our lives that will love us and allow us to grow?

What if we went day to day knowing that somehow we would manage to take what life throws at us and that we were going to get through it. Life would be so different.

Maybe for once, we could walk into a test knowing that we were going to Ace it and not worry in the back of our minds about how this grade could ruin a future job opportunity. We could meet a girl or a guy and have the courage to go up to them and introduce yourself without the fear of rejection. If we start living our lives reminding ourselves that things will be OK and end up how they are supposed to, maybe we can finally really succeed.

"Life is amazing. And then it's awful and then it's amazing again. And in between the amazing and the awful, it's ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing. Hold on through the awful. Relax and inhale during the ordinary. That's just living-heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it's breathtakingly beautiful" — Lr Knost.

I'm not saying bad things won't happen, there are times we are going to be let down, sad, heartbroken, but this is what life is. We take the bad, turn it into good, and continue going along our paths. But instead of worrying about the bad, let's learn to embrace the opportunities that are lining up as each day passes by.

It's time to start living happily again.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
