There is no limit to the amount of motivation a person can use when going through a breakup. I recently found myself in need of some of that motivation (as well as wine and a lot of Taylor Swift songs) but with the help of my friends, family, all that Taylor Swift and sappy quotes, I'm feeling whole again.
Putting yourself out there and loving another person is one of the bravest things you can do and anyone who takes that for granted or walks away didn't deserve you. I hope that these quotes will remind you that there is someone out there who does. I still do.
1. "Don't you dare, for one more second, surround yourself with people who are not aware of the greatness that is you." - Jo Blackwell-Preston
2. "Don't let what he wants eclipse what you need. He is very dreamy, but he is not the sun. You are." - Christina Yang, "Greys Anatomy"
3. "So plant your own gardens and decorate your own soul instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers." - Jorge Luis Borges
4. "Hold onto the thought that no emotion lasts forever, no matter how wonderful or terrible the emotion may be. The tears may last a little longer than you would like, but it will get better. I promise." - Osayi Osar-Emokpae
5. "And if he wants to leave then let him leave. You are terrifying, and strange, and beautiful. Something not everyone knows how to love." - Warsan Shire
6. "I think that it's important to realize you can miss something, but not want it back." - Paulo Coelho
7. "I never look back, darling. It distracts from the now." - Edna Mode, "The Incredibles"
A break up is never easy. It's beyond painful to let go of someone you love - especially if you've been together for a while. Always remember that it is okay to be sad, it's okay to wallow and mourn the loss of something that meant so much to you. But also remember that it's not okay to stay that way for long. Don't cheat yourself out of being happy by holding on to something that is gone.
I'll leave you with one last quote to hold on to: "It took me a sleeve of thin mints and forty minutes to get over that boy." John Green, "The Fault in our Stars". Grab your thin mints, set some time for yourself (probably more than forty minutes), and be very, very sad. Then pick yourself up and move on. If Jennifer Anniston can get over Brad Pitt, you can get over anybody.
