Georgia,
Most people love their home state, but you are uniquely lovely. From your mountain towns at the foothills of the Appalachians to Atlanta to the beautiful Georgia islands, you offer a place for everyone.
You are the home state of so many wonderful things. What would our culture even look like without Coca-Cola? I don't even want to think about that! From "The Walking Dead" to Tyler Perry movies, you never seem to leave our TV screen. There's nothing like the excitement we Georgians feel when we're watching a movie and think, "That's my state!"
You, Georgia, are home to some of the most beautiful cities that our nation has to offer. Strolling the stone streets of Savannah, weaving on and off of SCAD's campus and wandering through one of our nation's most historic cities is something beyond compare. The beautiful, castle-like campus of Berry College is as close as we may ever get to Hogwarts (and that is perfectly okay!). The Classic City and the sprawling UGA campus have inspired countless Georgian young people to strive for success.
No matter what interests someone has, you have something to offer: hiking Cloudland Canyon, boating on Lake Lanier, attending a college or pro sports game, or catching a bite to eat at the Marietta Diner. Relaxing with friends over a cup of coffee at West Egg or any of your other splendid coffee shops is equally as wonderful.
We Georgians are lucky to say that we share a home state with some of the greatest Americans of all time. Truett Cathy started more than just Chick-fil-A here; he set the bar for companies that put God first. If it weren't for Savannah's Juliette Gordon Low, Girl Scouts wouldn't have bettered the lives of countless women in our nation. Some of the greatest civil rights activists came from Georgia. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s, memory is paid respect from highways, to buildings, to every Georgian's soul.
It really is no wonder that there's a company called Peach State Pride. The Georgian spirit is rooted in overwhelming love for the place we call home. Your people are your heart. Georgia is a place where the only thing sweeter than the tea is the people who make it. You're a place where people talk slow because they don't mind investing time in everyone they encounter. You're a place worth calling home, no matter where life takes us.
Georgia, I love you. I wouldn't trade you for the world.
With all my heart,
A Thankful Georgia Peach
