Georges Bizet (French; 25 October 1838 – 3 June 1875) was a French romantic composer. He is still best known for his operas, the most famous being Carmen. However, due to his untimely death ,and the originally critical review of Carmen, he never got to see his Grand Opera's success. Here is a short list of my favorite Bizet pieces.

5. Toreador Song- Carmen

The Toreador song is one of the most recognized pieces of music in the world. Even if you think you don't know any opera you can probably hum this to yourself while it is playing.

4. Symphony in C Major

Considering who Bizet's contemporaries were, the Romantic period was a cutthroat time to be a composer. Though he isn't well known for his symphonic works, his symphony in C is a great piece to show his prowess.

3. Peal Fishers Duet- The Pearl Fishers

Bizet's other famous opera is The Pearl Fishers. It is an inherently beautiful show, and this is one of the most beautiful duets ever written. In the opera the two men are in love with the same woman and vow to never let her get in the way of their friendship. It's basically the best " Bros before hoes" anthem ever written.

2. The Flower Song- Carmen

In this aria, Don Jose is expressing his love for Carmen. He tells her that the flower she gave him allowed him to stay live while he was in prison for setting her free.

1. Habanera- Carmen

In this Aria, Carmen has just gotten out of the cigarette factory and is singing about love, and how she can seduce any man she likes. It's written in such a way it almost sounds like a strip song, and it might as well be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
