It’s official ladies. Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor is permanently off the market.
The infamous bachelor tied the knot with his lawyer sweetheart on September 29, 2014, during a luxurious, private ceremony. A-list celebrities like Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Cindy Crawford and Bono were all present and accounted for, as the duo exchanged vows.
The ceremony took place in Venice, Italy, and the happy couple spared no expense for their guests. Attendees had the privilege of having their airfare and hotel room paid for, as well as constant security. Later in the evening, guests were treated to a Tuscan feast, which included dishes like red and blue lobster, lemon risotto, and of course, a slice of the decadent chocolate wedding cake.
The whole affair screams elegance, but that's not what makes this wedding so awe-worthy. George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin's nuptials were so beautiful because of the hope they brought, particularly for women. Clooney married a remarkable woman, who embodies all the confidence and grace of those women we aspire to be like.
The 36 year-old British lawyer is a force to be reckoned with; she’s gorgeous, both inside and out, has an amazing career, is fluent in multiple languages, is a human activist, and the list goes on. This woman is the entire package with a big bow on top, if you catch my drift. With so much going on for her, you would think there would have been a constant line of men chasing after her.
This, sadly, could not be further from the truth.
In a recent interview one of Amal’s close friends, Jae Kim, had this to say, “[We] stayed up talking late into the night about relationships and whether she would ever meet her partner in life," Kim stated during her toast, “She had just been picked the Hottest Barrister in London, and I was concerned that this would not work in her favor, as most men found her intimidating already."
I don’t know about you, but when I read that, my jaw hit the floor. This woman has absolutely everything going for her, how could she possibly have had trouble with dating??
I think most women can relate to this problem. When men meet women who are very successful and have a lot going for them, 9 times out of 10 it seems like they turn and run in the opposite direction. I don't care how strong of a woman you are, it doesn't feel good, in fact it often feels like rejection. We begin to feel like we're doing something wrong, because every time we find a guy we're interested in they seem uninterested or claim they are "intimidated." We begin to doubt ourselves as well as diminish our accomplishments in the hopes of appearing less threatening. Ladies, stop this right now!
The reason I love this story so much is because it provides hope for the strong, independent woman. Our match is out there, have hope that you will find them! I give Mr. Clooney major kudos for going after a confident, intelligent woman like Amal Alamuddin. Too many guys are “intimidated” by these types of women, and frankly, I think it's bull****.
Gentlemen, I invite you to take a page out of George Clooney’s book. Start going after the 10s and stop going after the 2s. A strong woman should never second guess herself because she's worried men will find her intimidating. Strong women are by definition, strong, but we have feelings. I am hopeful that the attention these lovebirds are getting is the first step in a new direction of dating/marriage.
Congrats to the happy couple! Congratulazioni agli sposi!
