As viewers of the show will know, the only thing more fun than watching Game of Thrones is talking about it. So, to tide us over until the return of the politics, dragons, and gratuitous nudity, here's an update on what we know about the 6th season so far.
When is it coming back?
The show is slated to premiere in Spring 2016, and although it's totally unconfirmed, rumor has it that we can expect the land of Westeros to once again grace our screens on either April 3rd or 10th. Although, this won't be at all relevant once the first half of the season is leaked... again.
Essie Davis is joining the cast.
After a phenomenal performance in The Babadook, Essie Davis is coming on board--based on that role, my guess is that she's going to be competing with Cersei Lannister and Lysa Arryn for The Most Terrifying Mother of all Time award.
Ned Stark is coming back!
The Season 1 favorite is going to be returning in childhood form via flashback. Apparently, newcomer Sebastian Croft was picked for the part because he "has a good head on his shoulders."
Dragons. Big dragons.
The special effects team has transformed Dany's dragons from adorable, shoulder-perching pets into some of the most incredibly powerful and detailed creatures ever seen on TV. They're not finished, though--they plan on doubling the size of the dragons once again, with an estimated length of 120 feet. Just try telling me that Daenerys isn't going to take the throne by the end of the show.
A Hogwarts alum is making an appearance.
Freddie Stroma, AKA Cormac McLaggen will soon be AKA Dickon Tarly, the brother of good ol' Samwell. This is exciting, and all, but now all I can think about is the power couple that Daenerys Targaryen and Hermione Granger would make...
Two new, beautiful castles.
HBO will be adding these two castles to their long list of striking architectural film sites. Castell de Santa Florentine (pictured above) will be the location of Horn Hill, the Tarly family castle, while Castillo do Zafra (pictured below) will bring the Tower of Joy to life.
Bran and Hodor are back from their mysterious hiatus!
Hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor hodor.
Of Monsters And Men will be making an appearance
The Icelandic folk band will be the latest to join the list of musicians invited to take a trip to Westeros. The band has already worked in the vain of Nothern European mythos, so they'll undoubtedly nail the vibe of the show:
Jon Snow is dead. Stop lying to yourself.
Of course, he'll probably find his way back onto the screen in the form of an ice zombie or a wolf/man hybrid, but the pretty boy as we once knew him is gone.
