Where Does the Game "Injustice: Gods Among Us" Go Next?

Expanding on a Popular Video Game

Where Does the Game "Injustice: Gods Among Us" Go Next?

"Injustice: Gods Among Us" is a popular fighting game featuring superheroes and super villains from the DC Universe. In its story mode, it follows an alternate timeline wherein Superman is tricked into killing Lois Lane and their unborn child. After this Superman kills The Joker and goes on to become a despot, ruling with an iron fist. Many superheroes (and villains) have joined his Regime, such as Hal Jordan (who has embraced fear instead of willpower), Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Bane, Solomon Grundy, and Nightwing (Damien Wayne, not Dick Grayson). Others took the side of the Insurgency joining Batman. These included Lex Luthor, Green Arrow, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, and others. The Batman that leads the Insurgency brings the heroes of Earth to stop Superman. Eventually they do and Superman is imprisoned in a cell powered by a red sun (which takes away his powers). HOWEVER, in the ending Superman is using his heat vision within the cell. Cue the obvious sequel.

And there should be a sequel, the game itself did well and was a really great concept. It has minor problems, but that is another conversation. There are a number of directions Netherrealm can go in. Below is just one direction the games could go (how I personally believe it should go).

Injustice: Gods Among Us II

The follow up to an already fantastic game, Part II would in affect be an extension of the stroyline of the first game. Superman would find a way to the alternate universe to bring his revenge on the Justice League (arguably after wiping out the Insurgency on his world). I would love to see this Superman more. The Superman of this world killed Shazam (who is actually 10 years old) so the gloves are ultimately off with this iteration of the Man of Steel. Once Superman got to Earth, there could be limitless possibilities. Maybe this Superman becomes a Red Lantern and joins forces with Atrocitus and this could bring in the other types of Lanterns too. All out war for the planet is a classic theme in comics and would be huge in a video game. Netherrealm just needs to create a sense of urgency with the story mode.

Heroes: Superman* (good and evil), Batman*, Wonder Woman*, The Flash* (Barry Allen), The Flash* (Jay Garrick), Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Green Lantern John Stewart, Aquaman, Green Arrow*, Supergirl*

Villains: Lex Luthor, The Joker, Darkseid, Reverse Flash*, Zoom*, Atrocitus, Black Manta, The Royal Flush Gang (King, Queen, Jack, Ace, 10), Sportsmaster, Deathstroke*.

Bonuses/DLC: Saint Walker (the first Blue Lantern)

Saint Walker was the first of the Blue Lanterns and built the entire Corps. Anyone who is not familiar with the Blue Lanterns, the constructs from their rings are powered by hope.

Larfleeze (Orange Lantern)

Larfleeze is the first of the Orange Lanterns. His constructs are based in avarice and greed.

Kano: This is a character who could not just appear as DLC in the game as a playable character, but a good idea would be to put him in the story mode as well (maybe infiltrating the Royal Flush Gang), given the inter-dimensional travel.

*Alternate skins

Superman: Dawn of Justice, New 52, Rebirth

Batman: Dawn of Justice (default and metal suits), Rebirth

Wonder Woman: Dawn of Justice

The Flash (Barry Allen and Jay Garrick): "Flash" TV series

Green Arrow: "Arrow" TV show

Supergirl: Red Lantern Supergirl, "Supergirl" TV show

Reverse Flash and Zoom: "Flash" TV show

Injustice: Gods Among Us III

In what would likely be the last installment of the series (if it were to exist). This particular game could have elements of time travel, altering the future, etc. There should be some cataclysmic event in the future that causes a hero (or heroes) to go back in time to solve the problem. This could bring in characters from the past such as Jonah Hex and even characters from the future such as Batman (Terry McGinnis) and War Hawk (Rex Stewart).

Heroes: Batman (Terry McGinnis), Batman (Bruce Wayne), Jonah Hex, Dr. Fate, Hawkgirl, Hawkman, War Hawk (son of Green Lantern John Stewart and Hawkgirl), Superman (present and future), Zatanna, and others.

Villains: Vandal Savage, The Joker, Sinestro, Quentin Turnbull, and others.

MK DLC: Subzero

Since the first game was put out by the same studio that did Mortal Kombat X, the first Injustice featured Scorpion as a playable character. This time around, Netherrealm should put in Subzero. Despite the fact that Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was an awful game, we can still have fights such as Subzero vs. Batman, or Subzero vs. The Flash, etc. that are still ridiculously awesome, especially considering the nature of Injustice as well as Mortal Kombat X more recently.

The sky is the limit with these games and I am eager to see what direction these games will go next, pushing the limits of gaming even further.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
